Scenes From A Birthdaylicious Weekend

Goooooood Monday Morning To You My Lovelies!

Did you have a nice weekend?
Oh I certainly hope so!

I had a splendid weekend!
It actually started on Thursday!
And it started with bacon.
Can I get a woot woot!
My super fun and thoughtful husband booked a short but extremely sweet get-away.
We headed up the mountain to a quaint little hotel
that was built in the 30's.

Doesn't this picture make you want to paint your front door bright yellow?
Oh hoooooneeeeeyyy . . . .

Thursday we relaxed.
We read, went for a walk, watched movies, drank wine from fun little mini bottles, had a scrumptious dinner . . .

 It was perfect.

Friday, we slept in,
had more bacon,
and headed out to the hills.
We tried cross-country skiing for the first time.
It was a hoot!
We were going to take a lesson,
but after watching 2 youtube videos,
we decided to save the 60 bucks.
I have not laughed that hard in FOREVER!
We had SO MUCH Fun!

What's great about this place is they have miles of GROOMED trails.
Perfect for newbies like us.
And in case you're wondering, it IS possible to biff it while
cross-country skiing.

Let the record show that I did indeed fall more than my husband,
but I was the one with the camera.
Ha!
Let the record also show, that we went off the beginner trail,
and advanced to the 'more difficult' trail.
Let me define what 'more difficult' means-

STEEPER AND LONGER UPHILLS!
There might have been a few minutes that I didn't quite enjoy this adventure.

But then we reached a beeeautiful bridge
and I was all smiles again.

It was such a fun fun mini getaway!
Thank you sweet husband!

Then we came home to our girls and continued with the fun.
My girls LOVE to celebrate.
Birthdays in our house always start with donuts.

Josh asked what I wanted to do on my birthday
and I wanted his help with a project.
I can't wait to show you what we worked on.

After a day of tinkering in the shop,
we had yummy ribs and fried chicken for dinner
and ended the day with ice cream cake.

Yes, I think one of my love languages is food.
I just realized that all my food requests were fried.
Oh dear.

 35 was an amazing year.
I am so stinkin' excited to see what 36 has in store.

Maybe I should set some goals.
Like slow down on fried food.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes and sweet comments on Friday.
I really like you!

Have a marvelous Monday!!

  6. i've never been skiing. so sad! my hubby can, but we've never gone together. it's one thing i really want to try. i had friends in high school who had all been in ski club for years, and i never wanted to be the "one" who had to have help all day...so i never went. maybe i should've?

you guys looked adorable together! that looks like a great weekend!

  7. Hope you had a great birthday, Amy! The last time I went skiing, I went down the entire big slope on my butt, and I've never gone back! Ha! I think I'm going to have to start doing the birthday donut thing. Everytime I see pictures of donuts posted, I crave one SO BAD! Happy monday!
